Phuket swimming pools compared

The table covers eight pools with public swimming information, including Saphan Hin’s closure notice. KAIF and Ludus appear separately below because current casual-swimming terms are unconfirmed. Prices are in Thai baht and hours are local Phuket time. Lessons, competitions and team bookings can reduce public lane access.

The entries above are not all sold on the same basis: a one-hour lane booking, a reported pool admission and a sports-club pass have different conditions. Sources and unresolved differences appear in each pool’s section.

BangBang Aquatics: book a 25m swim in Chalong

Also known as PCH Swimming Pool or Phuket Country Home Swimming Pool, BangBang Aquatics has a 25m pool in Chalong. It is a useful starting point if you are staying in Chalong or training around Fitness Street and want to add a scheduled swim.

The official lane-booking page lists ฿100 for a one-hour slot. The main pool requires a confirmed reservation and advance payment. Arrange the booking before travelling; arriving during opening hours is not enough to secure access.

The Maps listing gives Monday–Saturday 08:30–18:00 and Sunday 08:30–12:00. The booking form has a generic selection of times that extends beyond those hours, so rely on the slot the pool actually confirms.

Contact: +66 65 356 4956. If booking for a group, ask how many swimmers the reservation covers and whether the lane is shared.

Kathu District Swimming Pool: low-cost 25m laps

This covered 25m pool is behind Kathu District Office. Places2Swim’s listing, updated in February 2026, describes eight lanes and adult admission of ฿20.

Local information supplied for this guide puts adult entry at ฿30 and children at ฿10. We could not find an official current tariff to resolve the difference. Allow ฿30 per adult visit and confirm the fee at reception; treat the child rate as reported too.

Published directory hours are daily 09:00–20:30. Showers, changing rooms and small lockers are reported by visitors. Bring your own towel and check how the lockers work on arrival.

For regular swimming on a small budget, this is the first of these pools to investigate. Check the lane arrangement when you arrive, especially if lessons are taking place. We did not verify a direct pool telephone number.

PSU Phuket: an indoor 50m pool in Kathu

The pool at Prince of Songkla University’s Phuket sports complex is the option here for indoor long-course training. The 2026 SEA WAVE competition bulletin specifies a 50m × 25m indoor pool with ten lanes and a permanent depth of 2m. That is more specific than the locally reported 2–3m range; do not assume there is a shallow standing area.

Hours need care. The university’s own swimming-pool page lists Monday–Saturday 15:00–20:30, closed Sunday. Local notes and some directories say 13:30–20:30. We use the university’s hours here, but its page is undated: call +66 62 448 8584 before planning an early-afternoon swim.

A local swimming guide corroborates the reported ฿80 single visit. The ฿750 monthly price remains unverified; ask whether it is still available, who qualifies and what access it includes. We did not find a current official pool tariff.

Ask about public lane availability on your intended day. This is a competition venue, and a quiet session on one visit does not establish that lanes will always be free.

Saphan Hin Swimming Pool: temporarily closed

The Google Maps listing was marked temporarily closed when checked on 20 September 2026. We found no confirmed reopening date. Do not travel there expecting a public swimming session.

Older information describes a 50m pool and ฿20 entry. The local notes supplied for this guide also describe unlimited time, Monday–Tuesday 09:00–21:00 and Wednesday–Sunday 09:00–20:00. These are historical details, not a current price or timetable.

We have kept a venue listing with a clear closure notice. If the pool reopens, its admission conditions and hours will need checking again before it returns to the active comparison.

Thanyapura: 50m and 25m pools in Thalang

Thanyapura is the sports-resort option in this selection. Its aquatic-facilities page describes 50m and 25m pools with a cooling system designed to support water temperatures of 25–28°C. A training operator’s facility description lists eight lanes in each pool. That does not mean eight lanes will be available to casual swimmers.

The official FAQ publishes sports-club rates of ฿900 for a day, ฿2,500 for a week and ฿4,500 for a month. These are club-access prices, not pool-only admissions or accommodation packages. Confirm the inclusions and any coaching charges when choosing a pass.

The official availability page lists both pools at 07:00–21:00 daily, subject to availability. Check that page for closures and ask about lane access around camps and team sessions. The temperature range describes the facility’s cooling capability, not a promise for every session.

Contact: +66 76 336 000. If you are staying in southern Phuket, include the journey to Thalang when comparing the cost and convenience.

Phuket Aquatic Center: covered 25m swimming at Boat Plaza

This is the pool at Boat Plaza in Ratsada, near Phuket Town. Visitor accounts describe a covered 25m pool with ฿80 admission. A December 2025 visitor report also describes swimming without a time limit. Treat the price and admission conditions as reported, and confirm them before visiting.

FitPhuket lists Monday–Saturday 10:30–20:00 and Sunday 10:30–17:00. Other sources give different hours, including a later Sunday closing. Call +66 94 595 4598 before a Sunday or evening swim, and ask whether lessons will leave space for laps.

It gives swimmers staying around Phuket Town another option while Saphan Hin is closed. These are separate facilities: use the Boat Plaza location when arranging transport.

Alpha Health Club: a ฿250 pool-only day pass in Wichit

Alpha’s official pool page confirms an outdoor 25m pool with four lanes, alongside children’s and workout pools. It also lists changing facilities, showers and lockers.

The club’s published prices are ฿250 for a pool-only day pass, ฿600 for a gym-and-pool day pass and ฿1,600 for a gym-and-pool week. The advertised ฿200 monthly pool add-on is for members; it is not a standalone ฿200 swimming membership.

Swimming hours are Monday–Friday 07:30–21:00 and Saturday–Sunday 09:00–20:00. The club opens earlier and closes later, so use these pool-specific times when planning your swim. The homepage also lists a 31 December–1 January closure. Check holiday arrangements and lane availability with reception.

Contact: +66 76 612 656. Alpha is useful if you want a published pool-only price or to combine swimming with a gym session near Phuket Town.

Cherng Talay Municipal Swimming Pool: a covered option near Bang Tao

This municipal facility offers another location for swimmers staying around Cherng Talay and Bang Tao. PhuketNet describes a covered pool open to the public; an older triathlon-training account identifies it as 25m.

Recent visitors report ฿200 admission. Reviews on the Maps listing, shown as two and four months old when checked, both mention that price. We did not find a current municipal tariff, so confirm the fee and any admission conditions rather than relying on older low-price recommendations.

Hours also need confirmation: PhuketNet lists daily 09:00–19:00, while Maps displayed an 08:30 Monday opening. We could not verify a complete current weekly timetable. Call +66 76 615 836 before travelling.

KAIF and Ludus: check swimming access first

KAIF Phuket, Kathu

KAIF advertises a 25m pool as part of its wellness club, also described in this local facility overview. We could not recheck the current pass prices on the official website, which was unavailable during our research. Ask about the current pool-inclusive pass, swimming hours and lane access; the swimming timetable may differ from the main club’s hours.

Contact: +66 62 480 5877. View KAIF Phuket venue details and directions.

Ludus Phuket, Chalong

The official Ludus website advertises a 25m swimming pool. Its published price page does not establish casual-swimmer access, a pool fee or swimming hours. Confirm that the pool is available for your intended session and ask which pass covers it. A gym or martial-arts membership should not be assumed to include swimming.

Contact: +66 65 935 6828. View Ludus Phuket venue details and directions.

Neither club is included in the price calculations below until its current swimming terms can be confirmed.

Choosing a pool for your stay

Start with your location, session time and preferred pool length. A nearby 25m pool may be easier to use consistently than a 50m pool across the island. Choose BangBang if a reserved slot in Chalong suits your day, Kathu District for a low entry budget, PSU for indoor 50m swimming, or Thanyapura if you will make use of a sports-club pass.

For Phuket Town and Wichit, compare Boat Plaza’s reported admission with Alpha’s published pool-only pass. Around Bang Tao, check Cherng Talay’s current terms before deciding whether the shorter journey makes it worthwhile.

ExampleCalculationWhat it assumes
12 adult visits to Kathu District฿240–360Reported ฿20–30 entry remains available
12 one-hour BangBang bookings฿1,20012 confirmed ฿100 slots; no extra services
12 PSU drop-ins฿960Reported ฿80 entry applies; no monthly pass assumed

Thanyapura: three visits within one week฿2,700 in day passes vs ฿2,500 weeklyWeekly pass covers your dates and intended access
Thanyapura: five visits within one month฿4,500 either wayFive day passes equal the listed monthly rate

These are admission calculations, not complete trip budgets. Transport, equipment and lessons are extra. We have not used PSU’s unverified monthly price or Saphan Hin’s historical admission in these examples.

Before your first session, confirm casual-swimmer access, the current fee, lane availability and any swim-cap or equipment rules. If you need lessons or are bringing children, ask about the appropriate pool area and supervision rather than assuming every lane pool offers the same facilities.

What we could verify

This guide combines the local information supplied to MyFitMate with operator pages, university information, a competition specification, Maps listings and swimming directories. Sources are linked beside the relevant claims. We checked published information on 20 September 2026; we did not make a phone enquiry or visit the pools.

  • Operator-published: BangBang’s lane-booking price and reservation requirement; Alpha’s pool dimensions, passes and swimming hours; Thanyapura’s club rates and listed pool hours.
  • Conflicting or unconfirmed: Kathu’s ฿20 versus ฿30 adult rate; PSU’s 13:30 versus 15:00 opening and unverified ฿750 monthly option; Boat Plaza’s Sunday hours; Cherng Talay’s full timetable. PSU and Boat Plaza’s ฿80 admission and Cherng Talay’s ฿200 admission remain reported prices.
  • Enquire before swimming: KAIF’s current pool-inclusive pass and swimming timetable; Ludus’s casual-swimmer access, fee and pool hours. Advertised facilities alone do not establish walk-in access.
  • Closure checked: Saphan Hin was marked temporarily closed on Maps. Older price and timetable references do not establish that it has reopened.
