Start with age and independence

Toddlers and preschoolers

Supervision comes first

Ask for the exact minimum age, whether a parent participates, and whether a short trial is possible. A class advertised for children may still be unsuitable for a child who needs continuous individual attention. Arrange supervision for the whole period you are away, including travel.

School-age children

Try the session before buying a month

Discuss experience, language, group size and how the coach introduces contact. Ask your child what they enjoyed after the trial. Matching the adult timetable is useful only if the child actually wants to return.

Teenagers

Check the class, not just the gym

Ask whether the appropriate option is a youth group, a scaled adult session or private coaching. An adult membership price does not establish the minimum age for every class, weights area or sparring session.

For a lesson shared by parents and children, request a family private session explicitly: give every participant’s age and experience, and ask how the coach divides attention. Confirm the total party price, session length and equipment. A standard one-person private rate is not automatically a family rate.

Pirate Camp and Unit 27: the linked MyFitMate events supply the youth ages and times above. Unit 27’s live schedule also showed an upcoming Saturday Hybrid Kids session when checked. Its event description still contains a complimentary launch-session offer in exchange for photo/video permission; confirm today’s fee and consent conditions rather than assuming every Saturday is free. See the Pirate Camp and Unit 27 venue pages for schedule updates.

Motus Cultura: its kids’ page advertises a 10% sibling discount when two or more siblings sign up, and a 10% parent-child offer when a parent has an active membership. Confirm which applies and whether offers combine. It also lists an adult CrossFit class alongside the weekday 17:30 children’s session. View Motus Cultura’s location and classes.

Lions also lists a combined kids’ Muay Thai + BJJ pass at ฿3,000/week or ฿7,000/month. Its Muay Thai page says children train at the same time as adults, which could help parents coordinate. Confirm both classes are running and agree the handover arrangements. Compare the dedicated kids’ site when asking about the age and timetable differences above. See Lions on MyFitMate.

How parents can fit their own training in

Alternating adult sessions is a straightforward starting point when two caregivers travel together: one trains while the other stays with the child, then they swap. Account for the full class, shower and return journey. Two classes starting at the same time only solve the problem if the child’s session covers the adult’s absence and the gym accepts that arrangement.

For a solo parent, settle supervision before buying a training membership. Ask who is responsible during the class, what happens if the child finishes early or wants to leave, and whether you must remain on site. This guide does not list a verified staffed childcare provider on Fitness Street.

If your child is accompanying you rather than training, ask whether the gym permits this and where they can stay. A café, reception area or visible seat is not an agreement for staff to supervise. Keep a backup plan for cancelled classes and days when the child does not want to train.

Book the sleeping arrangement, not just a room category

Send the property the number of adults, each child’s age and the beds you need. Ask for maximum occupancy, actual bed sizes, any cot or extra-bed charge, and whether “connecting rooms” means an internal door. Check where everyone sleeps when adults want an early night or a child needs a nap.

  • Signature Phuket Resort publishes free stays for ages 0–11 sharing existing bedding, extra beds at ฿500 per person per night, and adult treatment from age 12. It says cots are unavailable. Confirm the chosen room’s occupancy; its pool is for staying guests only.
  • Cocoville describes separate living space and a mini pantry in its Luxury Villas. That may help with a family routine, but the room description does not establish how many children can stay or which beds are included. Request an occupancy-specific quote.

Check the actual walk from your room to the gym, evening noise, fridge access, laundry and places to dry kit. For a room beside a pool, ask about door locks and pool access barriers. Accommodation with a pool does not include supervised swimming or children’s lessons by default.

For a separate swim, use our Phuket swimming-pool guide to distinguish booked lanes, public admission and leisure day access. Confirm children’s admission and supervision arrangements with the pool.

A flexible first week

This is a booking sequence, not a training prescription. Leave room for your child’s interests and energy rather than filling every available slot.

  1. Arrival: settle into the room, find meals and walk the route to the gym before committing to passes.
  2. First trial: attend one suitable kids’ session with the agreed parent arrangement. One adult can try a separate class if supervision is already covered.
  3. Review: ask the child and coach whether the group fits. Confirm the rest of the week’s bookings and the price of the smallest useful pass.
  4. Build the routine: repeat the sessions that worked, alternate parents where needed, and reserve time for swimming, meals and activities beyond training.
  5. Before extending: check next week’s timetable, room availability and whether unused sessions expire. Buy a longer pass only once the arrangement works for everyone.

What changes in the family budget?

Use the one-month Fitness Street budget for adult Muay Thai, food and local cost references, then build a household total. Multiplying a solo traveller’s total by the number of people can both overcount shared accommodation and miss extra beds, children’s classes and supervision.

List the confirmed family room total; each person’s actual training pass; meals and drinks; any paid childcare; laundry; and transport for the whole party. A child who tries one class does not automatically need a month of two sports. Include equipment rental or purchase only after asking what the class requires.

For a 14-night holiday, request a 14-night room quote. Do not halve a monthly room offer or assume a long-stay training discount applies. Compare the final total for your dates, including high-season supplements and cancellation terms.
